Starbucks, I Love Lucy, and the Yucatán Peninsula

OMGosh, I think my dad just got scammed.

Okay, so about an hour ago my dad, my brother, and I were driving home back from having dinner at my local Elks Club (don't ask why), and we pulled into this parking lot/plaza/shopping center to see if the Dairy Queen was open. We were driving by this tire store when this guy that was sort of wandering around the lot/plaza walked in front of our car. My dad unrolled the window to talk to him. 30-ish, husky, red winter hat, thick beard. He then proceeded to tell us this story about how he ran out of gas and he doesn't have any money to buy more and his girlfriend/wife (I forget which) is sitting in the car and the car is "sitting on fumes" (???) or something like that. He asked for 25 bucks to get some gas and offered to mail the money back to my dad, even give my dad his driver's license (!!!). So my dad gave him a couple bucks (even though he had more than that) and drove off. He didn't really believe his story. I didn't either. A savvy scammer wouldn't mail the money back (duh), and it's dumb to give out your address to random strangers. Plus driver's licenses can be faked. They are all the time when underage college peeps go into bars (triste mais vrai).

Here's a Snopes page about this type of thing. Snopes rocks.

Anyways. . .

Today was the first day of my spring break. YaY. I didn't do anything.
