Starbucks, I Love Lucy, and the Yucatán Peninsula

6.30.2005

It's summer, and we all know what that means!

Bugs.

I was just getting a drink of water when I spotted a spider on the ceiling. This scared me (just a little duh) so I slowly backed away out of the room. The thing was only the size of a silver dollar or so but I still was sufficiently startled. I don't usually mind spiders, scorpions, snakes, what-have-you but on occasion I find them yukky.

We live in an old house (100+ yrs) in a historic neighborhood so we've come to live in harmony/symphily (Google it you uneducated twit) with the creepy-crawlies. Over the years we've played host to mice, wasps, bats, even raccoons. Plus there are always the weird macropterous (Google it you uneducated twit) insect nymphs that cluster around our porch light, our screen door, and our windows late at night.

Goodbye June, hello July.
